DECLARATION OF VACANCY FOR POSITION OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Pursuant to provisions of Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation Act No. 32 of 2011, the Anti-Female Genital Mutilation Board invites applications from suitably qualified persons to be considered for the position of Chief Executive Officer.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this position, a person must:
(i) be a citizen of Kenya
(ii) have at least ten (10) years working experience in a senior position in the public or private sector on gender related programmes including Gender Based Violence (GBV);
(iii) be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from a university recognized in Kenya;
(iv) be holder of a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from a university recognized in Kenya;
(v) be conversant with governance for State Corporations and other relevant laws and policies;
(vi) have knowledge on issues of government procurement, financial management and human resource management processes;
(vii) have strong leadership and management skills and a demonstrated record of successful leadership of multi-disciplinary teams
(viii) meets requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
(i) Possession of a Master’s degree in Gender ; and
(ii) Membership to a Professional Association/Body will be considered an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
The Chief Executive Officer shall be the Secretary to the Anti-FGM Board and shall be responsible to the Board for the day-to-day management of the Board.
Specific duties and responsibilities shall include;
(i) providing strategic leadership to facilitate effective delivery of the Board’s mandate;
(ii) being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Board and achievement of the Board’s objectives;
(iii) Preparing the annual budgets and establishing proper internal controls;
(iv) Executing and communicating the Board’s strategies, decisions and policies;
(v) developing and recommending to the Board members the annual business plans for the Board;
(vi) Serving as a link between the Board and the management;
(vii) Putting in place effective management and administrative structures, processes, systems and succession plans;
(viii) Providing regular, thorough and prompt communication to the Board on Key technical, financial and administrative matters; and
(ix) Being responsible for stakeholders’ management and enhancement of the corporate image of the Board.
Terms of Service
The Chief Executive Officer shall hold office for a period of not more than five (5) years, on such terms and conditions of employment as the Board may determine and shall be eligible for reappointment.
