BACKGROUND:

The Financial Analyst (FA) will serve as the Mission’s expert and adviser on all financial management matters necessary to support USAID/Nairobi and client mission’s programs to ensure successful achievement of the Mission’s development objectives. The USAID/OFM provides program assistance across borders; supporting innovative regional programs and directly backstops bilateral Missions within the East African region. USAID Mission implements direct programs to improve regional cooperation, conflict resolution, food security, trade, environment, and mitigation of climate change. The Financial Analyst must be able to analyze and advise on the financial aspects of designing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and closeout of USAID projects and programs.

BACKGROUND

The Financial Assessment Specialist (FAS) is a member of the Government to Government (G2G)/Local Capacity Building (CB) Division of the Office of Financial Management (OFM) platform, USAID/Nairobi. The FAS will be based in Nairobi working under the cognizant authority of the Deputy OFM Chief overseeing the G2G/CB division. The incumbent is a Team Leader providing direction, mentoring, training, guidance, and oversight of multi-disciplinary team members including U.S. Government Direct Hire, USPSC, FSNs; Expatriate and International Donor Partner personnel; and Host Country Nationals from senior Ministerial level staff to midlevel hire managers. S/He is responsible for providing analytical, informational and advisory services to senior U.S. Government, Host Government, Multinational, and Regional and Local Partner institutions. Substantial travel will be required within the East African region and to other USAID world-wide global locations for which OFM may be called upon to support.
